²⁸ These things took place in Bethany ^(A)beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

²⁹ On the next day, he *saw Jesus coming to him and *said, “Behold, ^(B)the Lamb of God who ^(C)takes away the sin of the world! ³⁰ This is He of whom I said, ‘^(D)After me comes a man who has been ^[a]ahead of me, ^(E)for He existed before me.’
